Harry Potter and the Muggle Outreach Conference is an academically based conference based around the Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling. The Conference is held every spring at the University of West Florida. We have student and faculty speakers present on a variety of topics based on the Harry Potter book and film series.
Each conference consists of presentations, a quidditch tournament, a feast, and activities which cater to each conference's individual theme. Past presentations have included "The Psychology of Harry Potter", "Harry Potter Fan Fiction", and "Music of the Harry Potter Films." We hold a full Quidditch tournament where conference attendees can play quidditch with their houses, using modified rules from the International Quidditch Association. We create a 100% homemade feast, complete with vegan/vegetarian options. Past conferences have been based on themes, with our first based off of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and the second off of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. We are a completely non-profit organization. The conference is funded completely on fundraising efforts through the school year and the very minimal donations for those to attend the Conference.
The Muggle Outreach Committee, originally called the “Harry Potter Conference Planning Committee”, was founded at the University of West Florida in the fall of 2009 by Christine Thomas. Thomas developed the idea of the conference both as a tool to keep her busy during her last year at the university and to satisfy her passion for event planning. Since the first conference was held in the spring of 2010, the committee has grown from about seven volunteers from the university's Gay-Straight Alliance to an official student organization with over forty members on its roster. We are one of the many sub-organizations that are under the main organization the HPAlliance. In addition, Harry Potter and the Muggle Outreach Conference has won the prestigious "UWF Outstanding Student Organization Program of the Year Award" for two consecutive years.

Meet Our Current Team
Headmaster: Jaztin As-Siddiq
House: Ravenclaw
Jaztin is the Headmaster (President) of the Muggle Outreach Committee. He is a Computer Science major. He entered the organization in his second year and has held various positions such as Treasurer and Vice President. His duties include heading and delegating tasks to the Committees to complete in order for the Conference to run smoothly, coordinating activities outside the Conference, and acting as the Muggle Outreach Committee's representative. After this year, he will retire as a Portrait.
Deputy Headmistress: Stephanie Hayley
House: Ravenclaw
Stephanie is the Deputy Headmistress (Vice President) of the Muggle Outreach Committee. She is a Psychology major with a minor in Community Health Planning. She entered the organization her freshman year and has held various positions within the organization such as Secretary, Advertising Head, and Art Coordinator. Her duties include supporting the President, residing over meetings if the President is not available, and checking the progress of the other committees and their activities that were delegated to the Heads of the Committees. After this year, she will retire as a Portrait.
Tresurer: Rori Youngs
House: Hufflepuff
Rori is the Tresurer of the Muggle Outreach Committee. She is a History major and studying American Sign Language to become an interpreter. She entered the organizaion in her freshman year and has held other positions such as Quidditch Committee Head and Art Coordinator. Her duties include making the annual budget, coordinating with SGA, and delegating the money provided by SGA for needed activities. She has also founded UWF's Quidditch sports team.
Secretary: Tabby Anton-Peat
House: Ravenclaw
Tabby is the Secretary of the Muggle Outreach Committee. This is her first year at UWF. Her duties include writing minutes, sending out emails of our agendas, and recalling past activities/actions voted on by the members and E-Board.
Head Boy: Carlos Rojas-Hernandez
House: Gryffindor
Carlos is a Psychology major who is a sophomore at UWF. He is Head Boy (Vice-President in Training) of the Harry Potter and the Mugggle Outreach Committee. He is also the Secretary of UWF's Archery Club. He, like Tiffany Santiago, helps out the organization in any way they can while also learning the tricks of the trade.
Head Girl: Tiffany Santiago
House: Slytherin
Tiffany is our new Head Girl (President-in-Training) of the Muggle Outreach Committee. She is a sophomore dual major in Archaeology and Biological Anthropology at UWF. As Head Girl, she is basically under the wing of the Headmaster and the Deputy Headmistress. She is in the process of learning the ropes to become Headmistress next semester. She also helps the committee in any way she can depending on what is needed.
Third Party Liaison: Skylar Bingham
House: Slytherin
Skylar is the third party liason for the Muggle Outreach Committee. Her duties include contacting individuals, companies, and non-profit organizations on the behalf of the Committee to coordinate various activities such as book drives, co-op events, and vendors for Diagon Alley at our Conference. This is her third, and final year, as a member of the conference and her second as an executive member. She previously held the Quidditch Co-Head chair with Rori Youngs.
Art Coordinator: Brittany Langham
House: Slytherin
Brittany is a sophomore at UWF majoring in Graphic Design. She is the Art Coordinator for the Muggle Outreach Committee, which means she is in charge of all the artwork and decorating for just about all of the Committee events such as the Annual Yule Ball and the Conference. She has been with the Committee for about a year.
Quidditch Committee Head: Abby Duga
House: Hufflepuff
Abby is the current head of the Quidditch Committee. She is a junior and an Archaeology major at UWF. She is also the current President of the Quidditch Sports Team on UWF campus. Her duties include creating the rules for the Conference's quidditch matches, coordinating quidditch activities on campus, and teaching the Quidditch Info Seminar at the Conference.

Minister of Magic: Christopher Tartar
House: Ravenclaw
Tartar is the Faculty Advisor for the Muggle Outreach Committee since the organization is under the University of West Florida. He is one of UWF's Support Service Technicians. He is present at meetings and gives advise to the organization to help run it smoothly.
